Ready To Serve

Calabashes were used to serve/scoop food and also served as plates among the Agikuyu. The head of a family would use the largest calabash, with each of his wife (in case of a polygamous man) contributing to his overall meal.
After the man was served, the wives would then feed all the children in the homestead regardless of who the child belonged to… If one visited a homestead and was offered food using a small calabash, that person was being discouraged from visiting again 🙂 Selfish 101.
